Mild Spring 2013 for Ireland

This Spring will be quite mild in comparison to the norm.

March starts off on a very cold note for the first few days with some sleet or even snow in places. This will be short-lived however and the weather will be drier and somewhat milder for a couple of days before a few light outbreaks of rain move in off the Atlantic. Around this time the temperature will be around 4 to 8c with the Southwest seeing the mildest values. As we enter the middle of the month it becomes milder still and 15c can be expected in some places around St Patricks Day as warm air from the South moves up over Ireland. It wont all be sunshine though as more Western areas can expect to see a lot of light rain or drizzle at times in this airflow with the best weather over the South, Midlands and East.

March ends with a lot of dry and mild weather though the high will move out to the West and this will allow a lot of cooler air to move in with rain in the North and West. Temperatures at the end of the month can be expected around 10 to 14c.

April will be a dry month to start but as has been the case in the last couple of years in Ireland there will be a lot of showers getting going and some of these will be heavy or even thundery. It would seem that a lot of the days of April will be a repeat pattern like this with temperatures expected around 10 to 16c.

Late April will see High Pressure build and some pleasant weather with temperatures of 18c can be expected. Perhaps the best of the year.

May will be dry to start but it will be cool and unsettled overall as the High retreats to the Azores.
